Ceasefire Plan Announced, But Strikes Reported in Gaza
A proposed truce agreement is met with fresh explosions, raising immediate concerns on the ground.

A new proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza has been agreed upon by Hamas and Israel, according to a recent announcement. However, the territory’s civil defence agency is reporting a series of strikes that occurred just hours after the deal was revealed.
On Thursday, a civil defence official, Mohammed Al-Mughayyir, stated that several intense airstrikes hit areas in northern Gaza and Gaza City. These explosions began shortly after the proposed peace agreement was made public on Wednesday night.
The announcement of the deal came from US President Donald Trump. The agreement includes a plan for Hamas to release hostages in exchange for Israel freeing Palestinian prisoners. This exchange is expected to happen within 72 hours after the deal officially begins.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the development in a written statement, saying, “With God’s help we will bring them all home,” in reference to the hostages. He also stated that his government would meet on Thursday to give the agreement its final approval.
Despite these high-level announcements, the situation on the ground remains tense and uncertain following the reported strikes.
