Car Crash in Bantwal Leaves Seven Students Seriously Injured
Late night accident near Farangipet sees vehicle overturn after hitting divider and power pole
Seven students were seriously injured in a road accident that took place near Maripalla in Farangipet, under Bantwal taluk, in the early hours of Thursday.
According to initial reports, the group was travelling from Mangaluru towards BC Road along the National Highway when the driver reportedly lost control of the car. The vehicle veered onto a road divider, struck a power pole fixed on it, and dragged it for some distance before overturning.
The injured include four girls and three boys, all believed to be students from Udupi. The accident occurred shortly after midnight, catching passersby off guard.
Local residents and eyewitnesses quickly rushed to the scene. They managed to lift the overturned vehicle and rescue the injured passengers. The students were immediately taken to Fr. Muller Hospital for treatment.
Police arrived at the spot soon after the incident and have begun an investigation into the cause of the crash.
