Bosnian Activist Warns Israel May Use Force to Halt Humanitarian Flotilla Bound for Gaza

A Bosnian participant in the Global Sumud Flotilla, Boris Vitlacil, has voiced fears that Israel may resort to force, including gunfire, to prevent the growing humanitarian fleet from reaching Gaza. Speaking during an online press conference organized by the Sarajevo-based Gaza Movement initiative, Vitlacil explained that the flotilla, which set sail from Barcelona on August 31 and is preparing for its next departure from Sicily, faces serious risks as it challenges Israel’s blockade of Gaza.

Vitlacil emphasized that awareness across Europe regarding the situation in Gaza is increasing daily, and that the flotilla enjoys support from activists and organizations around the world. The possibility that Israel could intercept the convoy, potentially using military force, remains a pressing concern for those on board and their supporters.

The Global Sumud Flotilla represents a broad civilian effort to break the siege and deliver vital aid to Palestinians in Gaza. International groups continue to call on governments and the United Nations to guarantee the convoy’s safe passage and protect participants from unlawful detention or violence.
