BJP and Congress Workers Clash in Patna Over Insult to PM Modi During Protest March

In Patna on Friday, workers from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party clashed during a protest march by BJP workers. The march was organized to condemn the alleged use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Darbhanga a few days earlier.
Senior BJP leaders, including ministers Nitin Nabin and Sanjay Saraogi, along with MLA Sanjiv Chaurasia, led the procession towards Sadaqat Ashram, the state Congress headquarters. The BJP raised slogans demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party for the alleged insult.
As the BJP workers reached the Congress office, Congress cadres reportedly locked the gates from inside and pelted stones at the BJP protesters. In response, BJP workers threw party flags like missiles, damaged vehicles, and vandalized photographs of Gandhi. The police intervened to control the situation and persuaded BJP workers to withdraw.
Superintendent of Police Diksha said the clash was minor, with injuries reported on both sides, and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted. Meanwhile, Congress workers staged a dharna outside their office condemning BJP’s “hooliganism.”
The incident underscores growing political tensions ahead of elections in Bihar, with leaders from both parties accusing each other of instigating violence. BJP leaders have vowed to respond strongly to the incident.
