Bill Gates Visits Andhra Pradesh, Holds Talks on Health, AI and Governance
Microsoft co-founder meets CM Chandrababu Naidu and ministers to explore expanded collaboration with Gates Foundation.

Amaravat: Bill Gates arrived in Andhra Pradesh on Monday for high-level discussions with the state government on strengthening cooperation in health, agriculture, education and technology-driven governance.
Gates was received at Gannavaram Airport by IT Minister Nara Lokesh along with other senior cabinet members. From the airport, he proceeded to the state Secretariat for meetings with top officials.
In a post on X, Lokesh welcomed Gates to Amaravati and said the state looks forward to working closely with the Gates Foundation to develop scalable and impactful solutions for public welfare across multiple sectors.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly requested Gates to expand ongoing health initiatives in the state. Discussions are also expected to focus on the use of artificial intelligence in governance and public service delivery.
The Gates Foundation is already implementing health-related projects in Kuppam in Chittoor district. The current visit is aimed at exploring ways to scale up these interventions across Andhra Pradesh to benefit a larger population.
According to government sources, Gates will also visit the Real Time Governance System (RTGS) centre to observe how technology is being integrated into governance. The Chief Minister is expected to present the state’s “Swarna Andhra 2047” vision document, outlining long-term development goals and reforms in sectors such as medical technology, diagnostic services and Sanjeevani, a health record digitisation programme.
After his meetings at the Secretariat, Gates and his delegation are scheduled to visit an agricultural farm in Undavalli village near Amaravati. There, he will witness the use of drones and artificial intelligence in farming practices.
This marks Gates’ latest visit to Andhra Pradesh. He had earlier travelled to the erstwhile undivided state twice. The current visit follows an invitation from Chief Minister Naidu to deepen collaboration between the state government and the Gates Foundation.
