Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News)– In a significant move aimed at guiding the community towards ethical and responsible living, the Islah-e-Muashara Committee of Bhatkal, comprising respected Qazis, five central (Core) institutions, scholars, and the Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation, held a special meeting on 18th September 2025 at Tanzeem Hall. The session resulted in the approval of three key decisions tackling critical societal issues: the Expo trend, drug abuse among youth, and extravagance in overseas sports events.

  1. Discouraging Costly and Showy Expo Events

The committee raised serious concerns over the growing culture of lavish “expo” style events that are increasingly becoming platforms for show-off, unnecessary competition, and misuse of community resources. These events, the committee noted, often drift away from Islamic values of simplicity and modesty. Members strongly advised community groups and organizers to refrain from holding such events, and instead focus on educational, spiritual, and beneficial programs.

  1. Zero Tolerance Toward Drug Abuse

Addressing the alarming rise in drug usage among local youth, the committee unanimously declared a zero-tolerance policy. It called on parents, teachers, and community leaders to take active roles in prevention and rehabilitation. Authorities were urged to strengthen monitoring, and Islamic scholars emphasized the importance of educating young people about the moral and health dangers of substance abuse.

  1. Ban on Participation in Wasteful Overseas Sports Tournaments

In light of the increasing number of Bhatkali youth traveling to Gulf countries for high-cost sports tournaments, often accompanied by excessive spending and un-Islamic practices, the committee has decided to prohibit participation in such events if they go against the approved community values.

Watch Press Conference

The Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation has been entrusted with implementing this decision by coordinating with local sports Centers and raising awareness among players.

These measures are part of a broader effort to foster a morally upright and socially responsible community. Committee members expressed hope that families, institutions, and youth themselves will understand the gravity of these issues and cooperate in ensuring the wellbeing of society.
