Bhatkal Teachers’ Unions Announce Boycott of Social-Educational Survey 2025

Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News): Teachers’ unions in Bhatkal have announced a boycott of the ongoing Social and Educational Survey 2025, citing multiple shortcomings and difficulties in its implementation. They have declared that they will not participate in the survey until their concerns are addressed.
Key Issues Raised
The Bhatkal branch of the Karnataka Government Employees Association (KGEA) and the Primary School Teachers Association submitted a memorandum to the Tehsildar highlighting several problems.
Their concerns include:
- Survey responsibilities being assigned without a proper list of allotted houses
- More than 150 houses being assigned to individual surveyors
- Technical problems in the census app
- Lack of basic equipment for carrying out the survey
- Posting of women teachers to unfamiliar and remote locations
Demands of the Teachers
The unions have demanded that women teachers be posted only in urban areas through individual orders and that adequate support staff be provided to ensure smooth survey operations.
They also made it clear that until these issues are resolved, teachers will not take part in the survey work.
Memorandum Submitted
Dozens of teachers, including KGEA President M.N. Naik and Primary School Teachers Association President Alas Naik, were present when the memorandum was submitted.
