Bhatkal Professor Dr. Wasim Ahmed Halwegar Awarded PhD by Srinivas University
AITM faculty member honored for research on improving power quality and grid integration in modern energy systems.

Bhatkal: Dr. Wasim Ahmed Halwegar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), has been awarded a PhD by Srinivas University, Mangaluru.
He received the prestigious degree during the university’s 8th convocation ceremony held on March 28, 2026.
Dr. Halwegar, son of Nazeer Ahmed Halwegar, originally hails from Belagavi but has been residing in Bhatkal for the past 38 years. He completed his early education through Anjuman institutions in Bhatkal, later earning his engineering degree from the same institution. He pursued his Master’s degree in Electronics in Mangaluru and successfully completed his doctoral studies at Srinivas University.
His research, titled “Efficient S-Hilbert–Huang Transform with Advanced Surge Protection Device to Reduce Grid Integration Issues and Enhance Power Quality,” focuses on improving energy efficiency, power quality, and grid integration. The study is considered highly relevant in addressing current global energy challenges, particularly in renewable energy systems.
Dr. Halwegar has been serving under the Anjuman institution for the past 15 years and is widely appreciated for his dedication to teaching and academic excellence. He credited his success to the continuous guidance and support of the members of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, as well as the principal, registrar, and staff of AITM. He also acknowledged that, after his father, these mentors played a significant role in shaping his academic journey.
The principal, registrar, and staff of AITM congratulated Dr. Halwegar on his achievement and expressed their best wishes for his future endeavors.
His accomplishment is seen as a matter of pride not only for the institution but also for the entire Bhatkal community.
