Bhatkal Police Launch Helmet Awareness Campaign with Rally and Workshop
Officials led a bike rally through the town, urging citizens to prioritize safety and prevent road accident fatalities.

BHATKAL, October 7 (FK News) – The Bhatkal Town and Rural Police stations jointly organized a public rally and workshop on Tuesday to raise awareness about the critical importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers. The event was officially launched by Bhatkal Tehsildar, Nagendra Kulshetty.
Addressing the gathering, the Tehsildar highlighted the alarming increase in road accident fatalities each year. “Every individual must understand the value of their life and make wearing a helmet a mandatory habit,” he said. “It is far better for the public to follow the law willingly than to be stopped and fined by the police. This approach keeps our society safer.” He also called upon the youth to take responsibility and ensure their family members do not ride without a helmet.
DSP Mahesh MK stated that the police department’s primary goal is not to penalize riders. “Our intention is not to stop people and issue fines, but to save precious lives,” he explained. He also issued a stern warning, adding that parents who allow underage children to ride vehicles will also face fines.
Town Police Station CPI, Diwakar, offered a powerful reminder of the risks. “A person can survive and live with an injury to an arm or a leg, but it is very difficult to save a life after a head injury. A helmet acts as a life-saving shield,” he remarked.
Echoing this sentiment, Rural Police Station Inspector Manjunath Linga Reddy said, “In most two-wheeler accidents, the riders who lose their lives are those not wearing a helmet. We urge you to wear a helmet, at least for your own sake and for the sake of your loved ones.”
Following the workshop, senior police officials led a bike rally that traveled through various routes in the town to spread the message directly to the public. Sub-Inspectors Naveen Naik, Thimmappa Moger, Rannagouda Patil, and Bharmappa Belgali were also present at the event.
