Bhatkal Hosts Referee Examination, Opening Doors for Aspiring Football Officials
Twenty-eight football enthusiasts from across Karnataka take a step closer to officiating the beautiful game.

The Uttar Kannada District Football Association brought an exciting opportunity to Bhatkal last week, organizing a three-day Referee Examination that drew participants from across the state. The program ran from March 27 to 29, 2026, and was held under the official supervision of the Karnataka State Football Association and its Referee Committee.
Guiding the sessions was Mr. Sandeep Nanda, a national-level referee from Kolkata affiliated with the All India Football Federation. Over three packed days, participants worked through both practical and theoretical components, wrapping up the program with a fitness test and a theory examination on the final day.
A total of 28 aspiring referees took part in the examination, traveling in from various parts of the state including Gulbarga, Bidar, Karwar, Shirur, and Byndoor. Among them, 19 were students from Anjuman, making the local institution a significant contributor to the event.
The examination was organized in partnership with Anjuman Arts, Science and Commerce College, with consistent backing from Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen throughout the process.
For those who clear the examination, the rewards could be immediate. Successful candidates stand a strong chance of being assigned officiating duties right away, making this a meaningful career stepping stone for young football enthusiasts. Results are expected to be announced within the next month.
