BHATKAL: A Helmet Traffic Awareness Programme was held at the Anjuman Institute of Management and Computer Application (AIMCA) on October 8, 2025, to promote road safety among riders. The event was a collaborative effort, jointly organized by AIMCA, Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, and the Uttara Kannada District Police.

The primary objective of the program was to reduce the number of head injuries and fatalities caused by road accidents. Speakers educated students and local citizens on the need for disciplined and lawful driving.

Mr. Nagendra, the Tahsildar of Bhatkal, attended as the chief guest. Key speakers, including Mr. Divakar (CPI, Bhatkal Town) and Adv. Syed Imran Lanka, shared valuable insights on helmet safety, legal requirements, and civic responsibility. Mr. Inayatullah Shabandri and Mr. Mohammed Mohsin also addressed the audience. A significant part of the event was a road safety pledge administered by Mr. Naveen, PSI of Bhatkal Police Station.

During the program, it was highlighted that helmets can reduce fatal head injuries by 60 percent and prevent 70 percent of brain injuries in accidents. As a practical step to encourage safe habits, helmets were distributed to students who presented a valid driving license.

The event was praised as a successful example of teamwork between law enforcement, educational institutions, and the community. With the core message of ‘Helmet On – Safety On,’ the program marked a positive step toward creating a lasting culture of safe and responsible driving in Bhatkal.
