Bhatkal: The 1981–82 batch of Islamia Anglo Urdu High School came together for a reunion on February 15 at Cocoss Restaurant in Jaali.

Around 30 students from the batch attended the memorable event, along with five other alumni and four former teachers who were invited as special guests.

The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Abdul Basit. Quazi Salman Jubapu welcomed the guests and former teachers by presenting them with roses.

Senior teacher R.N. Gudigar fondly recalled his teaching days and appreciated the dedication of his fellow teachers and students. Physical Training instructor M. Nizam also shared memories from the past, narrating interesting incidents involving students and athletes of that era.

Former librarian Nayeem Quazi spoke about his deep emotional and family connection with Anjuman School. He mentioned that despite opportunities to work in Gulf countries and elsewhere, he chose to remain associated with the school for 36 years before retiring.

S.M. Arshad also shared his experiences and memories from his school days. The session was presided over by journalist Aftab Kola, who made the gathering lively by asking engaging questions about school days and distributing prizes to those who answered correctly.

All guest teachers were honoured with mementos presented by Abdul Basit Ikkeri. In his concluding remarks, Convener Abdul Basit Akri thanked the teachers and alumni for attending. He fondly recalled old memories, teaching styles, and the unique expressions of their teachers, adding an emotional touch to the event.

Participants thoroughly enjoyed the reunion. The programme concluded with a lunch, and gift bags were distributed to all attendees by S.M. Arshad and Abdul Basit Ikkeri. The event ended at 4 pm.
