Belgium to Recognize Palestinian State and Announce Sanctions on Israel at UN

Move includes 12 sanctions targeting Israeli settlements after UN meeting this month.
Belgium’s Foreign Minister announced that Belgium will formally recognize Palestine as a state later this month during the United Nations General Assembly. The country will also enforce twelve sanctions against Israel, including a ban on products from Israeli settlements and restrictions on government contracts with Israeli companies. Recognition is conditional on the release of hostages and Hamas stepping down.
