Authorities Act After Fatal Accident, Vehicle Speed Reduced at City Light Cross in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: (Fikrokhabar News) The local administration in Bhatkal has stepped up safety measures near City Light Cross on the main highway after a recent road accident claimed the life of one person. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of this stretch, which has witnessed several accidents in the past.
Following the latest fatal mishap, authorities have taken action to control vehicle movement in the area. As a result, traffic speed near the City Light Cross has noticeably reduced compared to earlier days.
One of the major concerns at this location is the sudden end of the road divider before the curve, followed by its reappearance after the turn. Due to the absence of a divider at the curve, vehicles often drift into the opposite lane without drivers realizing it, creating a serious risk of collisions.
Adding to the danger is a nearby crossroad that connects Navayath Colony and Musa Nagar to the highway. Vehicles entering the highway from this cross frequently intersect with fast-moving traffic. CCTV footage from the recent accident clearly shows a vehicle entering the highway from this cross colliding with an oncoming vehicle from the opposite direction. The injured person later succumbed to injuries during treatment.
After the accident, the authorities cleared bushes along the roadside to improve visibility. Barricades have also been installed at several points near the curve to slow down vehicles and alert drivers.
Officials believe that these measures will help motorists maintain better control over their speed and reduce the risk of further accidents at this accident-prone spot.
