Anjuman Day Celebrated on 106th Foundation Anniversary in Bhatkal
Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader and Minister Mankal Vaidya call for urgent steps to establish medical and law colleges and upgrade Anjuman into a university.

Bhatkal (Fikrokhabar News): The 106th foundation anniversary of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, a historic educational institution of Bhatkal, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on December 13. The two-day celebration, titled “Anjuman Day,” marked more than a century of the institution’s contribution to education and social development.
In his inaugural address, Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader praised Anjuman’s role not only in Bhatkal but also in the surrounding districts and rural areas, especially in the fields of education, social welfare, religion, and healthcare. He said true patriotism lies not in slogans but in building educational institutions in rural areas and nurturing children into valuable assets for the nation.
Khader stressed that a strong nation is built when students grow strong in classrooms and playgrounds. He urged students to explore all professional fields, including engineering, medicine, law, civil services, and administration, rather than limiting themselves to business alone. Emphasizing the need for progress, he said the time has come to establish engineering and law colleges and take immediate steps toward converting Anjuman into a full-fledged university. He added that unity within the community is essential for achieving this goal and for the overall development of Bhatkal.
District In-charge Minister and Bhatkal MLA Mankal Vaidya assured full government support for setting up a high-tech hospital and a medical college in Bhatkal. He said the region lacks advanced healthcare facilities and that the government is ready to cooperate, especially since Anjuman already has land and infrastructure. He also supported the demand for a law college.
Founder of the Shaheen Group, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, shared his long association with Bhatkal, recalling his first visit 37 years ago and his admiration for Anjuman’s work. He acknowledged the contributions of Sadiq Mohammed Jaffery, who supported the Shaheen Group from its early days. Dr. Khan urged Anjuman to take bold steps to bring about an educational revolution and emphasized starting NEET exam coaching in Bhatkal.
Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka University, Dharwad, Dr. A.M. Khan, and noted businessman Miran Minigar also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of higher education and institutional growth.
Anjuman General Secretary Ishaq Shah Bandri presented a detailed report on the institution’s activities, while the programme was presided over by Anjuman President Mohammed Younus Qaziya.
Cultural programmes by students from various Anjuman schools and colleges were held after Asr prayers and continued till late night. The performances received wide appreciation from the audience, and cash prizes were awarded by the Anjuman management. Special appreciation was shown for performances by Anjuman-ul-Fitra, Islamic schools, primary schools, and Islamia Anglo-Urdu High School.
Separate raffle draws were organized for the public, staff, and students, with cash prizes worth ₹10,000 distributed. The programme convener was Mohsin Sir, Principal of Anjuman BBA College.
The day-long celebrations concluded around 11:30 pm with concluding prayers.
