Anil Ambani Appears Before ED Again in ₹40,000 Crore Money Laundering Probe
Reliance Group chairman questioned in connection with alleged bank loan fraud case

New Delhi: Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani on Thursday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the national capital for a second round of questioning in an alleged money laundering case linked to bank fraud.
The 66-year-old industrialist reached the federal agency’s office in central Delhi around 10:30 am. Officials said his statement would be recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was earlier questioned by the agency in August 2025 as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case relates to an alleged bank fraud of over ₹40,000 crore involving Reliance Communications (RCOM), a company under his group. Authorities are probing claims that loans were diverted and financial irregularities were committed.
Ambani and several companies under the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) are facing allegations of loan fraud. The ED recently formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine these cases following directions from the Supreme Court of India.
In a related development, the ED on Wednesday attached Ambani’s Mumbai residence, ‘Abode’, valued at ₹3,716 crore, under the anti-money laundering law.
According to submissions made by the agency before the apex court, three separate money laundering cases have been registered against ADAG to investigate suspected bank loan fraud and other financial irregularities.
