AITM Bhatkal Hosts One-Day Incubation Awareness Programme Under MSME RAMP Scheme

Bhatkal: The Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), Bhatkal, in association with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Directorate of MSME, KCTU, TECSOK Bengaluru, and the District Industries Centre (DIC), Karwar, organised a One Day Incubation Awareness Programme on Monday under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme.

The event aimed to familiarise students and young innovators with incubation opportunities, entrepreneurship development, and various government support systems available for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The programme opened with a welcome address by Prof. Shrishail Bhat, Training and Placement Officer at AITM. This was followed by an introductory speech by Sri Sunder Sherigar, Joint Director (I/c), MSME, Mangaluru, who highlighted how incubation centres help nurture new ideas, support start-up ventures, and strengthen the MSME ecosystem in the region.

The event was formally inaugurated by AITM Secretary Mr. Mohammed Ansar Damdaabu, who symbolically watered the plants to mark the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, AITM Principal Dr. K. Fazlur Rahman reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, research, and a start-up culture on campus. He noted that programmes under the RAMP scheme offer students a practical understanding of incubation processes and the support available for MSME development.

In his Presidential Address, Sri Nagaraj V. Nayak, Joint Director, DIC Karwar, stressed the need for strong collaboration between industry and academia. He also outlined various government schemes that can help budding entrepreneurs turn their ideas into viable businesses.

The event was graced by Registrar Prof. Zahid Kharuri and TECSOK Associate Consultant Sri Arvind D. Baleri, whose presence added significance to the programme.

A detailed technical session was later conducted by Sri Sunder Sherigar, offering valuable insights for students preparing to take up entrepreneurial ventures. Guest Speaker Mr. Ashik Shetty, Head of the Center of Excellence, Nitte GOK CoE Aquamarin, further explained incubation models, facilitation processes, funding opportunities, and strategies for early-stage start-up development.

In closing, the AITM Principal and Management expressed gratitude to all collaborating departments and organisations for their continued support. They noted that the programme represents an important step toward nurturing a vibrant start-up ecosystem in AITM and across Uttara Kannada district.

The One Day Incubation Awareness Programme concluded with a renewed sense of motivation among students to explore entrepreneurial pathways.
