Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mongolia After Technical Issue
Air India flight AI174 from San Francisco to Delhi diverted to Ulaanbaatar on November 2 following suspected technical problems mid-flight.

An Air India aircraft traveling from San Francisco to Delhi made an unscheduled landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Saturday after the flight crew detected a possible technical malfunction during the journey.
The flight, AI174, was operating via Kolkata when the crew decided to divert to Mongolia as a safety precaution. The aircraft landed without incident at Ulaanbaatar airport, where it is now undergoing thorough technical inspections.
Air India officials confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe. The airline is currently coordinating with local partners in Mongolia to provide necessary assistance to stranded passengers.
“We are making every effort to arrange alternative travel plans and get all passengers to their final destinations as quickly as possible,” an Air India spokesperson said. The airline has apologized for the disruption caused by the unexpected situation.
Air India emphasized that passenger and crew safety remains their highest priority, which prompted the precautionary landing decision.
The airline has not yet disclosed the specific nature of the technical issue or provided a timeline for when passengers might resume their journey to India.
