AIMPLB Seeks Urgent Meeting With Minority Affairs Minister Over UMEED Portal Glitches
Board says repeated crashes and slow speeds make it impossible to upload lakhs of waqf properties before deadline.

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has requested an urgent meeting with the Minister of State for Minority Affairs, citing severe technical issues on the UMEED Portal, which waqf authorities nationwide are required to use for uploading details of waqf properties.
In a press statement, AIMPLB spokesperson Dr. S. Q. R. Ilyas said that after the Supreme Court declined to extend the portal’s deadline, mutawallis across the country rushed to complete the uploading process. However, widespread complaints have emerged about the portal frequently crashing, slowing down, or becoming completely unresponsive. Under such circumstances, Dr. Ilyas said, uploading lakhs of property records within the current timeframe is “almost impossible.”
He added that the Board is seeking a meeting with the Minister to highlight these problems and to request both an extension of the deadline and immediate rectification of the portal’s technical issues.
According to Dr. Ilyas, the Board’s General Secretary, Maulana Muhammad Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, sent a formal letter to the Minister on Wednesday through both email and post. In the letter, the General Secretary noted that the government had originally intended for all waqf properties registered with State Waqf Boards to be uploaded on the portal. But because of slow loading speeds, repeated failures, and other system glitches, this target has not been achievable. He also pointed out that the timeframe given for uploading more than eight lakh properties was too short, despite the Board and other organisations conducting workshops and establishing help desks across the country.
Dr. Ilyas said the Board’s delegation—if granted an appointment—would include its central leadership along with heads of major religious and community organisations.
