AIMPLB Mourns Passing of Maulana Muhammad Abdullah Mughisi, Calls It a National Loss
Prominent Islamic scholar and founding member of the Muslim Personal Law Board remembered for lifelong service and reform

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Maulana Muhammad Abdullah Mughisi, describing his passing as a significant loss for the Muslim community in India.
Maulana Mughisi was regarded as one of the country’s most respected Islamic scholars. He received his education under eminent teachers such as Maulana Fakhruddin Moradabadi and Allama Bilawi. Over the years, he became closely associated with Darul Uloom Deoband, where he earned recognition as a prominent figure.
He played an important role in the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, serving both as a founding member and as part of its executive body. He also shared a close relationship with Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi, acting as a trusted advisor.
Maulana Mughisi was also a member of the consultative council of Mazahir Uloom Waqf. He was held in high regard by Qazi Mujahidul Islam Qasmi, who relied on his counsel and support. From its early days, he remained actively involved with the All India Milli Council, where he played a key role alongside senior leadership.
Known for his efforts in spiritual reform and moral guidance, Maulana Mughisi travelled widely across the country. His speeches were known for their emotional depth and clarity, leaving a lasting impact on audiences, especially the youth, many of whom were inspired to change their lives after hearing him.
He also headed Gulzar Hussainiya Ajra in Meerut, where his leadership helped the institution grow in reputation and reach. His influence was particularly strong in western Uttar Pradesh, where he was widely respected and admired.
Leaders and members of the community have prayed for his forgiveness and elevation in the hereafter, while expressing hope that his legacy of service and reform will continue through those he guided.
