Additional Boats Preparing to Join Global Sumud Flotilla for Gaza

Boats from Barcelona that underwent repairs after a recent storm are now preparing to rejoin the Global Sumud Flotilla, according to the coalition’s Friday statement. The launch schedules for the fleets in Tunisia and Sicily have been adjusted, and these boats will depart on Sunday to meet the Barcelona contingent in the Mediterranean.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, a large international effort to break the Israeli blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, is calling on the United Nations and world governments to guarantee safe passage for the vessels and protect participants from unlawful detention or intimidation. The flotilla has received broad support from lawmakers, unions, and rights advocates, with more than 100 officials signing a letter urging the creation of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza and the protection of the mission.
Organizers emphasize the need for urgent international action to end Israel’s siege and ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people, as the fleet sets sail despite threats and technical hurdles. With preparations nearly complete, Sunday is expected to see dozens of boats from Italy, Tunisia, and Spain moving forward as a unified challenge to the blockade.
