Abu Dhabi Updates Darb Toll Timings and Removes Daily, Monthly Caps from September 1
  • PublishedAugust 14, 2025

Starting Monday, September 1, Abu Dhabi will implement changes to the Darb toll system, including revised evening toll timings and removal of daily and monthly payment caps. The Integrated Transport Centre announced that the toll charge hours in the evening will now run from 3pm to 7pm, Monday through Saturday, instead of the previous 5pm to 7pm period. Morning toll hours remain unchanged, and tolls will continue to be free on Sundays and official public holidays.

Significantly, the daily maximum fee of Dh16 per private vehicle and monthly caps—Dh200 for the first vehicle, Dh150 for the second, and Dh100 for the third and subsequent vehicles—will be eliminated. Under the new system, the Dh4 toll fee will apply each time a vehicle passes through any of the eight Darb toll gates in Abu Dhabi, with no daily or monthly maximum limits.

The current exemptions for groups such as People of Determination, low-income families, senior citizens, and retirees will remain in place.

These updates are part of the authorities’ efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on main roads during peak hours. The Darb toll system, introduced in 2021, manages key toll gates located on major bridges entering and leaving the city of Abu Dhabi.
