Rescue Operations Launched

As soon as the UP Control Room received information about the accident, ambulances and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the spot. More than 40 passengers sustained injuries in the mishap. Among the injured are Vijay Prakash Tiwari and Usha Tiwari, both residents of Kanpur.

Eyewitness Account

Vijay Prakash Tiwari, one of the injured passengers, shared details of the horrifying experience. He said the bus had departed from Delhi at 6 PM on Wednesday evening. Five members of his family were traveling together, planning to get down at Lucknow.

“The bus had crossed Agra around 1:45 AM. After some time, we passed a toll plaza. About five kilometers ahead, the bus suddenly went out of control, skidded off the expressway, and overturned,” Tiwari recalled.

Passengers Had No Time to React

At the time of the accident, most passengers were asleep. No one had any chance to brace themselves. The impact was sudden, and chaos erupted immediately after. Screams filled the air as passengers struggled to understand what had happened.

Villagers Rushed to Help

Hearing the loud noise and cries for help, some nearby villagers rushed to the accident site. They promptly informed the control room. However, due to darkness and heavy fog, rescue teams faced delays in reaching the location.

The injured passengers were later shifted to hospitals in Unnao and Lucknow for treatment. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, with overspeeding and poor visibility due to fog being the primary factors under scrutiny.
