During the operation, two women were found at the premises and rescued by police. Three male customers who were present at the time were also detained for questioning.

The man arrested has been identified as Suresh Nagappa Naik, 43, a room boy originally from Heradi in Kaikini village, Bhatkal taluk. Investigators say he allegedly lured women with promises of good money and used the lodge as a base to run the illegal racket.

Police seized relevant items from the scene as evidence. A case has been registered against Naik under applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

The two rescued women have been placed under the care of the Santwana Kendra, a government-run rehabilitation and counselling centre in Bhatkal, where they will receive support and assistance.
